Smartmicro Stop Bar+ traffic sensors, being deployed on thousands of intersections, outperform other technologies in stop bar detection accuracy and reliability. Where competitors need two seperate sensors for the two functions, Smartmicro can offer Stop+Advance-combined stop bar and advance detection with one single Radar, saving hardware cost and installation effort.

Smartmicro`s latest products familiy add 2DHD and 3DHD high resolution detection for higher performance in congested traffic solutions. Stop Bar+ 3DHD (Multi-Lane Stop Bar Detection)

Smartmicro stop line detectors are working today on thousands of intersections. They have proven to be robust, reliable and have shown in various benchmark tests that they achieve highest detection rates, very low number of false calls and/or stuck calls.

The applied radar technology is maintenance free and works in almost any weather conditions.

Usually detection is done for four lanes intersections, up to eight lanes are possible. One radar  typically replaces four loops, plus often four additional loops are placed at some distance to the stop line, to detect a queue of vehicles, see picture on the right. Bicycles can be detected.

Different antenna models are available to a) allow stop line detection on almost any intersection, be it small or large, and b) select the optimum mounting position - usually on a pole at the corner of the intersection.

NEMA TS1 compliant relay cabinet cards and NEMA TS2 SDLC communication cards plus many other interface options and accessories are offered.
Most installations today are four way intersections, and have a configuration that allows remote access to the multi radar system over the internet.

Stop+Advance 3DHD (Combined Stop Bar And Advance Detection with one Single Radar)

1 - One single radar for both stop bar and advance detection.

The three statements above summarize the key differences to other detection products and explain why this Smartmicro traffic solution by far outperforms competitors. It saves cost both in terms of hardware and installation by integrating many functions in one.

The Smartmicro sensor allows adaptive control strategies for intersections, because lane specific advance detection is possible. 

Therefor it represents the most universal detection technology on the market. Covering a wide field of view the sensor provides presence information at the stop bar and at advance zones. stop bar, approach, advance and system loops can effectively be replaced.

In addition to simple presence detection the integrated Event Trigger Module can be used to realize dilemma zone protection, signal priority, signal phase extension and other concepts for modern actuated intersections.

Physical Interface (Digital)

Count and statistic data per lane and per class: Headway, Gap, Volume, Occupancy, Avg. Speed, 85p Speed.

Status: total time, cycle duration, number of cycles and more.
Self test results: BIT information.
Commands: sensor can be fully remote controlled by sending commands during operation.
Software upload in system: no disconnection or power cycle required.

TMC Easy Mode Software

The new TMC (Traffic Management Configurator) Easy Mode Installation Wizard makes planning and field installation of sensors simple, as an intuitive step-by-step guide starting with site planning over sensor selection and configuration to physically installing the radar at an intersection. Just one simple window for settings, and a map for the visualization, Easy Mode helps and explains all settings. Remarkable features are "local awareness" and "guided alignment", meaning that the sensor itself provides feedback to the installer about where it is mounted and how well it is physically aligned/pointed towards the area of an intersection which shall be covered.
